Bolivia Colonial Caranavi Organic Coffee
This wonderful Bolivian coffee "Colonial Caranavi" is grown by small
native farmers known as colonials on land that is steep at elevations
rising to 5800 feet. These typica and bourbon coffee beans cultivated
in the tropics of Bolivia below a magnificent mahogany forest, come
from 41 small farms averaging 3 acres each. The farmers work hard to
constantly improve their organic farming cultivation practices and the
quality of their coffees. They have built raised bed patios for drying,
started their own nurseries, and provided coffee technicians to further
organic agricultural training. These efforts and the unusual micro
climate combine to offer a heavy bodied, spicy coffee that tingles the
senses of the tongue as well as the imagination. 013 $10.95

Colombia Cafe Organico Mesa de los Santos Organic Coffee
Cafe Organico Mesa de los Santos is certified by BioLatina, an
international organization dedicated to organic certification of coffee.
"Bird Friendly®" coffee beans are the only coffees on the market
that are certified as shade-grown and organic by an independent
third-party inspector using criteria established by the Smithsonian
Migratory Bird Center of the National Zoo. These criteria are based on
years of scientific research. Companies that sell "Bird Friendly®"
coffees contribute 25 cents per pound to support Smithsonian Migratory
Bird Center research and conservation programs.
The producers of Cafe Organico Mesa de los Santos, concerned about
nature and the environment, have obtained BioLatina certification after
more than three years of effort. During this period, measures including
no-chemical utilization during production and the implementation of an
ornithlogical program to guarantee native and migratory bird
protection, have been adopted.
Cafe Organico Mesa de los Santos is planted with banana and a variety
of diferent shade trees, to provide food and habitat to native and
migratory birds in the coffee plantation, working as an effective

Fair Trade Coffee: Central American Beneficio This Fair Trade Coffee benefits more than 2,300 small coffee growers and their families.
Most of these small producers are Mayan ancestors and they dedicated
their productions in memory of their ancestors by continuing to grow
and harvest their coffee in harmony and religious respect for the
environment. Times are difficult for these farmers due to the low
prices of coffee. Social and economic development has been almost
impossible. They have now formed an association of small coffee
producers in order to provide support to the cooperative to overcome
the problems of coffee production, administrative development and to
export fair trade coffee.
Fair Trade coffees assist farmers with things such as commerical
services, credit and training to increase the management and productive
capacity of its affiliates and of the men and women involved in this
development project.
The coffee is Certified Organic Shade Grown by The Organic Crop
Improvement Association (OCIA) as well as being a fair trade coffee.
Beneficio is produced under shade trees. The beans are hand picked and
processed by the coffee growers themselves, to be finally dried under
the sun.

Panama 'La Palma Select' Coffee
The Panamanian coffee plantation that grows La Palma Select is in an
area with ideal conditions for coffee production. The coffee farm is
located in the extreme western part of Panama, near the Costa Rican
border, at an altitude of 4,500 feet close to the Volcan Baru. This
altitude and volcanic soil are well suited for growing the best arabica
beans. The relatively level terrain allows the coffee cherry to ripen
evenly, resulting in more consistent bean quality and density.
The high altitude corresponds with a longer growing season which allows
the development of the complex flavors that distinguish fine specialty
coffees. The cooler climate reduces the number of pests that threaten
lower altitude coffees. 037 $11.95

Papua New Guinea Coffee
Coffee is the most important agricultural export for the native people
of Papua New Guinea. Although the island has ideal conditions for
growing coffee beans, the plantations are often secluded at sudden high
elelvations that are accessible only by foot. Because of the
accessibility issues, many Papua New Guinea coffees are grown
organically and processed completely by hand. However, this slower
processing time makes for a better quality of coffee. The plants that
bear these coffees are transplants from the famous Jamaican Blue
Mountain coffee estates.
Papua New Guinea shares many of the unique flavors of Jamaican Blue
Mountain Coffee. Look for a sweet acidic flavor with a mild, medium
body and
